Welcome to NYSID Sustainable !

The MPS-S program at The New York School of Interior Design (NYSID) is dedicated to providing students from a professional design background with a graduate-level post-professional education that concentrates in the design of the sustainable interior environments. The program emphasizes the collaborative team model approach, in order to broaden our student’s knowledge of other allied design professionals by focusing on green building design principles and the high performance designs of daylighting, artificial lighting and the indoor environmental system.  Graduates of the program will develop a critical understanding of the Integrated Project Delivery method, be able to apply a green building ratings system (LEED), and become advocates of the built environment and the health of its community through inter-disciplinary design initiatives.

The goal of this website is to provide information for educators and students new to sustainable design.  Work is gathered from faculty members who are currently teaching sustainability in the various programs and courses at the New York School of Interior Design.  Information is archived in graphical databases that can be retrieved without any special software (all that is required is your web browser).

We believe that the concepts of sustainability should be introduced into the students’ foundational studies and be a part of the core curriculum in interior design that is neither branded nor marginalized.

We encourage both faculty members and students to contribute work to this website so that others may share in their knowledge.  We also look forward to new discoveries as we push forward the sustainability agenda at the New York School of Interior Design.

As of June 29th, 2012 we are pleased to have the following Advisory Board members join us for the MPS-S program: Andrew Zumwalt-Hathaway, Bill Browning, Campion Platt, Michael Murphy and Stephanie Odegard.
